The Cleveland Show – Season one – Episode 17 – “Gone With the Wind”

The Cleveland Show – Season one – Episode 17 – “Gone With the Wind”

When Cleveland is diagnosed with high cholesterol, Donna puts him on a new high-fiber diet, which causes an intestinal backlash. Cleveland sees his doctor, who he hopes will be able to treat his uncontrollable flatulence. He is disappointed when the doctor tells him his farts are normal and are caused by the amount of fiber in his diet. In order to reduce Cleveland’s embarrassment, the doctor gives him a “fart card” to help him bypass the social stigma. The card makes other characters more accepting of Cleveland’s bad habit, even a police officer who backs off on arresting Cleveland after Cleveland flashes his fart card. Things take a turn for the better when Cleveland realizes his gas might score him a few points in the Broken Stool’s karaoke contest. Everyone but Donna is impressed. Later, Cleveland is informed that his ex-wife Loretta is dead. As explained by Glenn Quagmire, who transported her body to Stoolbend, Brian dug up a dinosaur skeleton, Peter Griffin tried to move it into his house with a crane, but accidentally swung it into Cleveland’s former house, the continued running gag in the other series. But this time, when Loretta falls out of the tub, she snaps her neck on impact. Though Cleveland Jr. is not so broken up by his mother’s death, Cleveland breaks down crying at her funeral. Donna concludes that he still loves her, even though she slept with Quagmire and various other people (Peter told Donna at their wedding), and chooses Coach McFall as her partner for the karaoke competition to spite him. While mourning at Loretta’s grave, Cleveland has an epiphany after a shenanigan with an oreo. He rushes to Donna and explains that he was having survivor’s guilt for not dying in Loretta’s place. He further explains that he had fallen out of the tub multiple times and had been left without a scratch in every incident. Donna was not convinced, until Cleveland pointed out that she may be broken up if her ex-husband Robert died. They reconcile and do the competition. Unfortunately, everyone wants Cleveland to let out some gas, especially the bar’s owner, who says, “Any ass can sing. We want the singing ass!” Cleveland obliges, resulting in his and Donna’s winning of the competition.

At the close of the episode, a brief montage is played in Loretta’s memory, showing clips from the Family Guy episode “The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire”.

The Cleveland Show – Season 1 – Episode 15 Once Upon a Tyne in New YorkWatched?

Cleveland and Donna go on an overdue honeymoon to New York City. However, Cleveland suggests bringing his friends from the Stool, much to Donna’s chagrin, to help Coach McFall reunite with a woman from his past; Tyne Daly, whom he met when she began acting in 1968 (jobs). Despite his attempts to share a romantic moment with Donna, Cleveland is forced to rush all over, helping his friends out of tight spots: saving Tim the bear from a homosexual bar (which he entered due to thinking the bar was a bear bar as in for bears in the animal sense of the word, not the term for chubby gay males), get Lester out of trouble with Harlem for insulting the residents and rescuing Holt from his job for Donald Trump involving being caged, poorly dressed as R2-D2, and poked with a stick by children who payed (Holt later thanks Cleveland for stabbing Trump). Because of his neglectfulness, Donna becomes resentful. When Cleveland takes Donna and McFall to see Tyne, the latter is rebuked for his own neglectfulness.

Back at their hotel, Cleveland goes to apologize to Donna, just as she spitefully tries flirting with Robert De Niro. She refuses to reconcile with him. Then, McFall arrives, explaining that it was truly his fault that all this has happened. Therefore, the Browns decide to help McFall win back Tyne by giving him a makeover and proper gentlemen lessons. When they sneak onto the set of Saturday Night Live (Tyne was hosting), McFall could not find the proper words to say to her. Cleveland quickly has Donna type on the teleprompter the proper sentences for McFall, all the while, making a double-sided apology. Both couples then reconcile. As the gang prepares to return to Stoolbend, McFall comes running, having made Tyne angry. They then race off as Tyne, having became a massive She-Hulk, chases after them.

Meanwhile, Roberta, Junior and Rallo, who were suppose to be babysat by Terry, stowaway on the trip. Roberta manages to get them a free hotel room by claiming to be the guest on the Maury Povich Show claiming that either Clevland Jr. or Rallo is the father of their child. They go to the owner of MTV and Roberta asks him for her own reality show. He agrees to give the three of them their own show, however when they come back the next day to ask about filming he reveals that they were really being filmed for a prank show where he tells someone that he is going to give them their own show. Roberta is still excited at being on T.V. and asks when it will be shown. The man reveals that it was on last night and literally no one watched, because no one watches T.V. anymore. He then disappears. At the end of the episode, the trio had missed the limo home.

Cleveland Jr. is in need of a job. After failed interviews with a slaughterhouse where Ernie works (the workers there mistook Cleveland Jr. for a cow) and a just-now obsolete newspaper company called The Daily Splash, it is revealed he is proficient with cleaning up after the customers in the The Broken Stool. He is given a job of a bar tender by Gus and helps the bar owner with improving his business and making drastic changes to the bar’s atmosphere.

Cleveland finds that the changes to the bar have negative effects on him and his friends, so he proceeds to get Cleveland Jr. fired for being too young to work in the bar. His son is quick to find that it was his father who made the call, and begins gaslighting as an act of revenge; he sabotages his father’s clothes, replaces the beers with nonalcoholic substitutes, and shaves his father’s mustache while he sleeps; the loss of his mustache results in Cleveland’s voice sounding more softer and unattractive towards Donna. Cleveland’s physician Dr. Fist claims that Cleveland has a disease that revolves around his plight. In the end, Cleveland is impressed by his son’s schemes, and both forgive each other. Also, it is revealed that Dr. Fist had pretended that Cleveland had the disease on Cleveland Jr.’s behalf.

Meanwhile, Roberta is feuding with Lacey Stapleton, a wealthy rival. In order to become more popular than Lacey, Roberta enlists the aid of Rallo to pose as an adopted child from Africa. Unfortunately, Lacey’s mother asks Roberta to bring her “son” to a charity fundraiser, where she is pestered with questions over where her “son” came from, to which she cannot answer.
